English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement

Benedictine University's English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement program was designed to meet the urgent need within Illinois school districts to provide teachers who can address the cultural, linguistic and developmental needs of a diverse group of students. Completion of this 18 credit hour program and 100 practicum hours as prescribed by the University will enable certified teachers to obtain the additional State of Illinois approval needed to receive an English as a Second Language Endorsement.

The ESL Endorsement program includes six graduate-level courses:

The ESL Endorsement program is delivered in a learning team (cohort) over nine months in a one-night-a-week blended format. Students attend class one night a week and complete four hours a week asynchronously (at the student's convenience) on Blackboard, an online classroom management tool through WebCT.
